"This past spring I had the privilege to hunt turkeys with two FNAWS donors. In April I made my way to Nebraska for a weekend of hunting with Paul Payton and Kent Hippen of Nebraska Trophy Whitetails whom I’ve successfully hunted deer with the past few years. This was my first turkey hunt with them and I will tell you, ‘They’ve got birds! Lots of em’.’ The birds weren’t responding well to calling so I took to belly crawling and after missing a bird I connected on a bird at 25 yards. In May I spent a weekend in Oregon with John McCollum of Eden Ridge Outfitters. We started off by taking Arthur Dubs out for a bird. After Arthur connected on his first turkey he stated, ‘I’ve hunted in Turkey, but I’ve never killed a turkey.’ Later that evening it was my turn to try my luck against the birds. With a barrowed shotgun I connected on a 9.5” bearded bird. Both of these outfitters have graciously made donations to the FNAWS Convention auction list for 2008. They’re helping to Put Sheep on the Mountain!"
