A Video Message from Alaska Governor Michael J. Dunleavy

Following the Alaska Dall’s Sheep Strategy Session held at this past Sheep Show®, WSF sent a letter to Alaska Governor Dunleavy offering our full support in future Dall’s sheep management and conservation efforts. The Governor’s response came in a video message he sent to AKWSF, which was played at their recent banquet in Anchorage.

These types of capture, test, collar, and releases can be broken down into segments.

Monday, February 27. Phase 1 - Capturing Sheep

The goal today was to use helicopter net gunning to capture 20-25 bighorn sheep, ewes, and lambs. Wind gusts were expected over 30 mph, so for safety reasons, the helicopter capture crew shut it down after bringing in seven sheep.

New Wild Sheep Foundation Youth Archery Team Debuts in Vegas

This past November, a new archery team was formed by the Wild Sheep Foundation. After noticing that many youths participated in introductory archery events in Northern Nevada and even followed up with various other shooting clinics, there really weren’t many great options for the next step. An S3DA (Scholastic 3-D Archery) archery team was developed, and youth who had been attending local clinics put on by WSF were invited to join.
