WSF Welcomes Jana Waller Bair and Rachel Ahtila

November 5, 2024

The Wild Sheep Foundation is pleased to announce strategic partnerships with Jana Waller Bair and Rachel Ahtila.

"The Wild Sheep Family is just as the name suggests," said Gray N. Thornton, President and CEO of the Wild Sheep Foundation. "We're a family of hunter-conservationists passionate and focused on wild sheep. Jana and Rachel have been part of and promoting our family, values, conservation impact, and our programs for years. It was time to make it official, welcoming them both as WSF Ambassadors."

Jana Waller Bair is a renowned conservationist and host of the award-winning series, "Skull Bound Chronicles." This collaboration brings together Jana's passion for wildlife conservation and WSF's commitment to sustainable wildlife management. With a rich history in conservation, Waller Bair has dedicated the past 30 years to promoting the protection of wildlife and their ecosystems. As a lifelong hunter and advocate for responsible, science-based wildlife management, she has consistently used her platform to educate the public about the importance of conservation efforts.

"Partnering with the Wild Sheep Foundation is a natural fit for me," said Waller Bair. "Their dedication to wildlife conservation aligns perfectly with my mission to educate and inspire others to value and protect our natural resources."

Rachel Ahtila has been in and around the hunting industry, wrangling and guiding for over 20 years. She has been attending, participating, and supporting WSF's Sheep Show® for over a decade. She has been featured in WSF films, conducted seminars, and is an active member of WSF's Women Hunt® committee and program. As a sheep guide, she also brings the guide/outfitter perspective, so integral to the WSF family, to our promotions and communications initiatives

Ahtila said, "The Wild Sheep Foundation has always held a special place in my heart. From first reading about the organization in Wild Sheep magazine as a kid in the hunting camps to walking through the doors at my first trade show- this organization has always felt like an extension of family. I am honored to be joining the program to help curate the ongoing awareness for conservation and the industry-leading programs that are what make the WSF family such a strong and prominent organization in wildlife stewardship."

Both Jana Waller Bair and Rachel Ahtila bring unique hunting, conservation, and communications backgrounds to the Wild Sheep Foundation. Their individual strengths and experiences will further our Mission, demonstrating why we do what we do and how we do it. Their addition makes our family even stronger.

The Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF), based in Bozeman, Mont., was founded in 1977 by sportsmen and other wild sheep conservationists. WSF is the premier advocate for wild sheep, having raised and expended more than $145 million, positively impacting these species through population and habitat enhancements, research and education, and conservation advocacy programs in North America, Europe, and Asia to “Put and Keep Wild Sheep On the Mountain®”. In North America, these and other efforts have increased bighorn sheep populations from historic lows in the 1950s-60s of 25,000 to more than 85,000 today. WSF has a membership of more than 10,000 worldwide. www.wildsheepfoundation.org.
