Outstanding Conservationist Award

The Outstanding Conservationist Award is presented to a WSF Member, non-member, or organization for their outstanding, exemplary and long-term contributions to wild sheep conservation and management. Recipients will have made a lasting legacy to the wild sheep resource.

Chris Barker was the recipient of the 2026 Award. His plaque reads:

The Wild Sheep Foundation recognizes your enduring leadership in advancing conservation, disease mitigation, and science-based wildlife management. Your decades of commitment have strengthened wild sheep populations and inspired others to serve the resource.

Thank you for your impactful contributions and your unwavering dedication to protecting wild sheep for future generations."

Nomination Process

Nominations are solicited from the WSF membership, WSF Chapters & Affiliates, WSF Conservation Committee, and WSF Professional Resource Advisory Board (PRAB).

At least three (3) Letters of Support from WSF members, Chapters & Affiliates, Conservation Committee members, and/or PRAB members should be submitted along with all nominations.
