Statesman's Awards

The Wild Sheep Foundation recognizes three different Statesman Awards for government officials who have made outstanding contributions to wild sheep.

State Statesman

Contributions to the state/province/country the person is from.

The 2026 State Statesman Award was presented to Todd Loewen – Minister of Forestry & Parks of Alberta. His plaque reads:

The Wild Sheep Foundation recognizes and appreciates your leadership in advancing the conservation of Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep in the province through sustainable use and  your exceptional efforts to fund this conservation by active and personal engagement in the promotion of the Alberta Minister’s Special Licenses.

The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs received the 2026 Federal Statesman Award. Their plaque reads:

The Wild Sheep Foundation recognizes and appreciates your leadership in advancing the conservation of California bighorn sheep on tribal and co-managed lands through sustainable use, your efforts to fund this conservation by the implementation of a non-tribal Conservation Permit, and for your vision in developing the next generation of tribal wildlife managers and stewards.
