Conservation Impact

In 2023, the Wild Sheep Foundation produced our first Conservation Impact Summary. The purpose was to “tell our story” beyond just the dollars directed to wild sheep conservation and other mission programs, but more importantly, to demonstrate and share the impact those dollars have.

Kevin Kehoe – AK WSF

For Kehoe, conservation is an act of selfless service—and the measure of a true hunter-conservationist is not what they take from the mountain, but what they put back on it. He reflects on the people who came before, the work of the Wild Sheep Foundation, and the responsibility to keep wild sheep on the mountain and our hunting heritage alive for generations to come.

Conservation of Bighorn Sheep in North Dakota

The Wild Sheep Foundation has played a critical role in restoring bighorn sheep populations across North America. In North Dakota, WSF members and the WSF’sMidwest Chapter helped fund translocations, research, and management efforts that transformed struggling herds into another conservation success story. Today, North Dakota’s bighorn sheep are at record recovery levels—likely the highest population the state has seen in more than 150 years—proving what dedicated conservation partnerships can accomplish.
