As sportsmen, we value conservation because we use wildlife natural resources for food, enjoyment, and well-being. We recognize the need to conserve for tomorrow. In this regard, we give more than we take. This is most evident in the case of a limited resource such as wild sheep.
Millions of dollars are raised annually and put into the resource. Still, relatively few have the opportunity to hunt them. This disproportion is what makes wild sheep so special and why we conserve them. Successful conservation creates future opportunities. As sheep hunters, we give much more because we care that there are enough sheep, more so than we care about our own opportunities. That’s conservation at its core.
