Mountain Monarch Awards recognize outstanding international wild sheep and goats harvested by WSF members.
Beginning with the 2027 Awards Period, WSF has established published minimum scores for Mountain Monarch recognition, creating a clear and consistent standard across eligible species. Developed by the International Awards Committee, these minimums are based on Safari Club International (SCI) Silver-level scoring standards. Entries that meet or exceed the published minimum score for their species will qualify for Mountain Monarch recognition. Within each award category, qualifying entries will be ranked by score, with the top three receiving Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals. All remaining qualifying entries will receive Honorable Mention recognition. This approach brings the Mountain Monarch program in line with the objective philosophy used for WSF's North American Ram Awards: qualification based on a published minimum score, followed by medal recognition for the highest-scoring qualifying entries.
Minimum qualifying scores will be published annually, giving members a clear benchmark for Mountain Monarch eligibility. As part of the Mountain Monarch Awards, any Caprinae taken that is truly exceptional may also qualify for a Mountain Monarch Award of Excellence, at the discretion of the Awards Committee.
2027 Awards Deadline
The deadline for submission is November 1 each year. For the 2027 Awards Period, eligible animals must have been taken between August 30, 2023, and August 30, 2026. The three-year eligibility period allows hunters additional time following their hunt to obtain the required measurement.
