Why this matters to wild sheep conservation?

Proposal will update management to address modern conservation challenges while building on decades of recovery. The Wild Sheep Foundation today welcomed a new U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service draft rule that recognizes the remarkable recovery of grizzly bears and involves state and tribal wildlife agencies more directly in continuing bear conservation.

Each year at the Sheep Show, hunters, outfitters, conservation leaders, and wildlife officials gather not only to celebrate wild sheep, but also to address the practical realities of how international conservation and lawful hunting intersect.

The Wild Sheep Foundation strongly supports today’s boost in federal funds for big game migration habitat. Nearly $10 million in federal, private, and tribal funds were announced today after the Make America Beautiful Commission meeting. The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation will award funds to projects through its competitive proposal program, the Western Big Game Seasonal Habitat and Migration Corridors Fund.

The Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum, today released Secretary Order 3447 to remove needless barriers to hunting and fishing, expand opportunities where provided by law, and improve coordination with state, tribal, and territorial wildlife agencies.
