Wild Sheep Foundation Welcomes New Directors

December 20, 2024

Bozeman, Montana — The Wild Sheep Foundation welcomes four new Directors to its Board of Directors, whose terms will commence May 1, 2025.

The new Directors, having been voted into office by the Foundation’s general membership, are:

  • Kyle Stelter (Courtenay, BC)
  • Kevin J. Kehoe (Anchorage, AK)
  • Larry Johns (Verdi, NV)
  • Bralli Clifford (Lander, WY)

“We’re pleased to welcome four solid and dedicated wild sheep family members to our Board,” said Gray N. Thornton, the President and CEO of the Wild Sheep Foundation. "With all that’s going well for wild sheep, they’re not without challenges in some jurisdictions. That puts more on our plate. I see the diversity of geographical regions and backgrounds of these new Directors as a vital plus as we set a course for the future conservation efforts for these iconic species."

The WSF Board of Directors consists of 11 members who serve 3-year terms plus the President & CEO, who serves as a non-voting member. All WSF Directors candidates must be a member in good standing of the Foundation, have attended at least two annual Sheep Show® conventions before his or her nomination, must have served on a committee of the Foundation, or served as an officer or director of a Chapter or Affiliate of the Foundation, or performed other comparable service acceptable to the nominating committee that would demonstrate a commitment to the Foundation and wildlife.

"Membership voting is the cornerstone of our organization's democratic process,” added Glen Landrus, Wild Sheep Foundation Chairman. “It ensures that our members' voices are heard and directly shape the Foundation's future direction. By electing our Board of Directors, our members play a vital role in upholding our mission to conserve wild sheep and their habitats. This process empowers our community, fosters accountability, and reinforces our commitment to conserving these iconic species for generations to come."

The Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF), based in Bozeman, Mont., was founded in 1977 by sportsmen and other wild sheep conservationists. WSF is the premier advocate for wild sheep, having raised and expended more than $145 million, positively impacting these species through population and habitat enhancements, research and education, and conservation advocacy programs in North America, Europe, and Asia to “Put and Keep Wild Sheep On the Mountain”®. In North America, these and other efforts have increased bighorn sheep populations from historic lows in the 1950s-60s of 25,000 to more than 85,000 today. WSF has a membership of more than 11,000 worldwide.
