Coming Home: Bighorn Sheep Back to British Columbia

The Wild Sheep Foundation and its Chapters and Affiliates flash-raised USD $186,505 to fund a translocation of California bighorn sheep from Oregon back to British Columbia to bolster struggling populations in a region where these wild sheep were originally translocated from, way back in 1954.

California bighorns exist in an air of mystery. Despite their name, this subspecies modern range only touches a sliver of the Golden State. And, compared to their close cousins, the Rocky Mountain bighorn, they are smaller in stature, sport wider flaring horns and are darker in coloration.
