WSF is Hiring - image courtesy of Adam BowenThe Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF) is seeking an experienced and highly creative Visual Communications Manager to play a key role in advancing our conservation mission through strategic communications, compelling storytelling, and impactful visual design.

This position serves as a creative partner within the Communications Team, helping translate complex conservation initiatives, fundraising efforts, membership programs, and advocacy priorities into engaging content that inspires action. The Visual Communications Manager will lead the development and execution of visual communications across print, digital, web, and event platforms, ensuring a consistent and effective brand presence throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate is both a skilled designer and a strategic communicator—someone who understands how visual storytelling can strengthen relationships with members, donors, volunteers, partners, and the broader hunting and conservation community. This role requires a professional who can think beyond individual projects to help shape how the Wild Sheep Foundation communicates its mission, impact, and conservation successes.

Through creative excellence and audience-focused communications, the Visual Communications Manager will help connect people to wild sheep, wild places, the Foundation, and the future of conservation.

VISUAL COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the creative direction and execution of design assets for assigned WSF programs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to shape messaging and visual strategy.
  • Translate conservation priorities and technical information into compelling materials.
  • Design and produce print and digital assets including publications, campaigns, advertising, email graphics, and web content.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of design projects from concept to final production.
  • Provide guidance on visual storytelling, branding, and audience engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Director and team members to maintain and enhance WSF's web presence, including page organization, content presentation, graphic sizing and optimization, and user experience.
  • Update and maintain website content and pages.
  • Research and source photography and visual assets.
  • Manage print production, vendor coordination, quotes, and quality control.
  • Ensure brand consistency and help strengthen WSF's visual identity.
  • Contribute strategic creative ideas supporting fundraising, membership growth, retention and stewardship, and conservation outcomes.
  • Support and mentor team members in their efforts when appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Five or more years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking in storytelling, fundraising, marketing, and engagement.
  • Solid working knowledge of North American big game species, hunting, wildlife conservation, and the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience designing for print and digital platforms.
  • Working knowledge of CMS platforms, HTML, and Bootstrap.
  • Strong understanding of print production processes.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Dropbox, Google Workspace, and related tools.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project-oriented skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Personal or professional experience within hunting, outdoor recreation, conservation, or wildlife management communities.
  • Knowledge of conservation funding, nonprofit fundraising, and membership-based organizations.
  • Experience creating communications for outdoor, hunting, wildlife, or conservation-focused audiences.
  • Familiarity with photography selection and management for outdoor and wildlife campaigns.
