Gray N. Thornton, the President and CEO of the Wild Sheep Foundation, stated, "We’ve broken our Convention records in raising money for wild sheep conservation every year for the past ten plus years. Much of this is due to the tremendous support we receive from our long-standing partners and new partners who appreciate the mountain game hunting community and what we’re able to accomplish in putting and keeping wild sheep on the mountain."

Beginning in 1978, WSF has worked tirelessly to fulfill its commitment to restoring wild sheep populations. The Sheep Show® has risen from these efforts as the annual celebration of wild sheep hunting and conservation. Since 1983, WSF has raised and directed over $110 million to wild sheep conservation and Mission funding. In the past ten years alone, WSF has raised and allocated over $70.3 million, primarily through the success of its conventions.
Others joining the list from the conservation community include the Boone and Crockett Club, Pope and Young Club, and Safari Club International, plus a host of Guide and Outfitter Associations, WSF Chapters and Affiliates, and distinguished outfitters from across the globe.
"Hunting and conservation expos fulfill a vital role in both our hunting culture and in providing additional funding over and above what is contributed by sportsmen through licenses, permits, and excise taxes," explained Thornton. "For us, it is an opportunity to generate critical funding specifically for wild sheep, but it goes beyond that. Hunters and outdoors enthusiasts are a unique group within modern society. They keep alive a love for outdoor activities and a commitment to conserving wildlife, wild places, and public access to these national treasures, which all deserve an annual celebration. We are simply providing the time and space for this to happen."
The SHEEP SHOW® will offer a host of attractions. Attendees can explore numerous exhibits at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, attend expert-led seminars, watch films, witness live demonstrations, participate in raffles, and bid on items in a silent auction. In the evenings, guests will be treated to socials, banquets, and auctions, even backpack races, and a horse-packing competition.
"Our Purpose is to Put and Keep Wild Sheep on the Mountain®," added Thornton. "We are also dedicated to putting more sheep hunters on the mountain. We will be giving away over a dozen sheep hunts, some of which will go to first-time sheep hunters. Our raffles include a hunt for each of the four North American species of wild sheep, and our auctions feature the most extensive selection of sheep hunts and highly coveted conservation sheep permits available anywhere."
The Show is open to the public, and registration is available online at this link.
The Wild Sheep Foundation (WSF), based in Bozeman, Mont., was founded in 1977 by sportsmen and other wild sheep conservationists. WSF is the premier advocate for wild sheep, having raised and expended more than $145 million, positively impacting these species through population and habitat enhancements, research and education, and conservation advocacy programs in North America, Europe, and Asia "To Put and Keep Wild Sheep On the Mountain”. In North America, these and other efforts have increased bighorn sheep populations from historic lows in the 1950s-60s of 25,000 to more than 85,000 today. WSF has a membership of more than 11,000 worldwide.
