Gina Reynolds Ignite Podcast guestIn this engaging, emotional episode, Dana Dykema welcomes Gina Reynolds. Gina was the first recipient of the Rubye Mayfair Blake Legacy Fund, set up by Derek Blake in honor of his late wife, to bring healing through the outdoors to women who have undergone a traumatic experience.

The conversation begins with Gina's interest in ultra running. She talks about her training regimen and her preparation for an upcoming 50-mile ultra race. Despite the physical demands, Gina finds joy and fulfillment in pushing her limits and embracing the mental challenge of long-distance running. She shares how running has become a vital part of her life, providing a sense of accomplishment and a way to connect with nature.

Gina's story takes a poignant turn as she reflects on the loss of her husband, Shane, who passed away in a plane crash in 2023. She recounts their shared love for the outdoors and how Shane's passion for hunting and fishing influenced her own journey. Gina describes the profound impact Shane had on her life, shaping her into the person she is today. Despite the pain of his absence, she feels blessed to have experienced such a deep and meaningful love.

The episode delves into Gina's hunting adventures, highlighting her determination to continue the traditions she shared with Shane. She recounts her first solo hunting experience, where she successfully harvested a deer, and the emotions that accompanied it. Gina's commitment to keeping Shane's memory alive through hunting is evident, as she strives to pass on these experiences to her daughter, Juliette.

Gina also discusses the experience of hunting with Juliette and the bonding that took place for them as they continue to hone the skills Shane started to teach them. Harvesting an elk was something Shane and Gina had wanted to do together and having the opportunity to hunt with her daughter was a very proud and happy moment for them both. The cherry on top of the trip was when Juliette harvested a deer herself after Gina, so both girls got to share such special memories together.

Throughout the episode, Gina's resilience and determination shine through. She speaks candidly about the difficulties she has faced, but also the strength she has gained from them. Her story is one of perseverance, love, and the pursuit of passions that bring joy and fulfillment.

Listeners will be inspired by Gina's unwavering spirit and her ability to find beauty and purpose in the face of devastating loss. Her journey serves as a reminder of the power of resilience and the importance of cherishing the moments and connections that shape our lives.

Join Dana and Gina in this heartfelt episode as they explore the intersections of running, hunting, motherhood, and the enduring impact of love and loss. Gina's story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the transformative power of embracing life's challenges with courage and grace.
